Seeing the Light at the End of the Tunnel

The boys are finally on the mend (knock on wood that I didn't just jinx everything by saying that!). They are still coughing some and definitely prone to coughing episodes if they are active but they definitely seem so much better than last week. We pretty much were able to have a normal weekend.

Friday night, we had standing date night. This week's date for me was with S. He elected Elephant Bar - again! We had a great time. He's starting to know a couple of the waiters and loves that they are starting to know him too. One is exceptionally nice and comes over (even when he's not our waiter) and checks out S' toy that he brought that given night. S elects to have me sit on the same side of the booth with him, even this week when we were in a single booth - we still found a way to both squeeze in the one side. He continually would lay his head on my shoulder and snuggle in. Just so sweet. He also made a great observation - he told me that he thought no women liked to be bald but some men did and some men didn't (the waiter "friend" is bald which is what started that conversation). We went home, picked up N and J and headed to B&R for ice cream. This is the second week in a row we've done this and the boys just love it. Saturday was our normal music class (felt nice to go as it had been a couple weeks since we'd been), coffee and then we went for a hike to see if there were any polliwogs. No polliwogs but we still had a great time. Boys really got warn out - nothing like some good old fresh air! Great naps and then they played outside with the neighbors while all the adults hung out chatting. I just LOVE my street. We really lucked out.

Sunday, I had thrown out the idea of going strawberry picking. The boys changed their mind Sunday AM and so we took it a bit slower. Then after breakfast they decided they wanted to go after all. Since we were leaving later than expected, we needed to go without J since he had a basketball game to go to that day. The boys still wanted to go so we got ourselves together, packed up a picnic and headed off. We had a great drive - the boys chilled out, we listened to some music class music on CD and then laughed with each other. It's been awhile since just the three of us have been on an excursion like that. We played at the farm some and then headed out to the strawberry fields and picked some strawberries. Headed back and had our picnic. Then we headed home. The boys surprisingly didn't fall asleep on the way home - even with the deal that if they napped in the car they wouldn't have to nap at home. Unfortunately, I think the idea of not napping was in S' head as once we got home, he had a really hard time and never went to sleep. Luckily, N was out cold and had a great nap. J got home, boys got up and then we all four went out in the backyard - J to clean up some stuff, me to garden some and the boys to "help" me and then "help" J once I went inside to make dinner. Even flew by as we had so much to do and we started so late.

As we were going to bed, N mentioned that he didn't like school... poor guy. I think he's going to have my anxious tendencies. I know he "didn't like" school just because he'd had a week break and was anxious about going back after having the break. I knew he would have a blast once he got there - he was just having the Sunday night "blues". S had crazy dreams last night so who knows maybe he was having the same thing but it came out a different way.
