Surprisingly Great Rainy Evening

So, it finally is raining here in So Cal. After the boys played inside with their Lego's for awhile and seemed exceptionally wound up and wiggly, I told them to put on their crocs and a sweater and out we went. We were the only ones out on our street (until the end) and so I let the boys run up and down the gutter (not actual gutters, I suppose, but more the area between the curb and the street where the water pools up) and splash to their hearts' content. And wow, did they have a good time. Eventually, the slightly older boy (probably around 7 or 8) came home, saw the boys having so much fun, ran inside and got his jacket and hat and joined us. It was such a nice way to enjoy the rain. We are probably going to do the same thing tonight...

After that, we went back inside and J had finished making their Lego garbage trucks. The boys were so excited to play with them for a bit (so much so that they later elected to play Lego's after dinner rather than watch the movie). We then had a very nice dinner that everyone seemed to enjoy so that meant everyone ate well. A quick shower (separate, which helped keep the craziness to a minimum) and then a little Lego time and then off to bed.

Oh, and J picked up a starter log on his way home so we had a fire in our fire place. We haven't done that in a year or so and the boys were so fascinated by it all.

Dinner: Butternut squash, caramelized onion tart, kale salad, strawberries and raspberries.
